It is our mission to change the fact that so many children in South Africa don’t have something as basic as a pair of socks to wear to school. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, we are so grateful to have been able to continue giving socks to those in need – all thanks to you.

OUR SOCK DONATIONS ARE GOING STRONG

In the past few months, we’ve given away over 10 000 pairs of socks to children who need them most in partnership with wonderful organisations like The Santa Shoebox Project, Melela4Children, African Angels, Tygerberg Children’s Hospital, Round Table, Hope Awakening Centre, Nazareth House and more.

A HAPPY DAY

Recently, on a particularly icy and wet day in Cape Town, we visited Good Hope Seminary Junior School with 1 000 pairs of school socks in hand after seeing a post on Facebook with a plea for sock donations from a concerned community member, noting that ‘…the children get caught in awful rain and are drenched by the time they get to school! There is nothing worse than having to sit in wet socks while trying to concentrate on schoolwork.’ As we always say at Sexy Socks:

Warm toes = easier to concentrate at school = more learning = better education.

We can’t wait for the day when it will once again be safe for us to interact with children and talk directly to them about social entrepreneurship – a highlight of our sock drops! For now, it is a joy to connect with their teachers and know that we’re able to make a small difference, even if from afar.
