Celebrating Mandela Day with the Kolisi Foundation

The driving force behind Sexy Socks has always been our mission to make a difference in South Africa (for every single pair of Sexy Socks sold, we give a pair of school socks to a child in need), so when we started manufacturing fabric face masks, it was only natural that we would also want a portion of all proceeds to go towards providing face masks to those most vulnerable and less fortunate.

Sexy Socks X Kolisi Foundation

Together with the Kolisi Foundation and their partner Zelda La Grange, former private secretary to Nelson Mandela, we celebrated Mandela Day this year and what would have been Madiba’s 102nd birthday by donating fabric face masks that were added to the 650 food parcels that the Kolisi Foundation collated to support beneficiaries in and around Hermanus. These parcels were designed to provide support to a family of six people for one month and included fruits, vegetables, cleaning products, masks, cereal, sanitary pads, and other grocery items.

“There can be no great gift that that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return”

– Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela

The Kolisi Foundation was founded by Siya & Rachel Kolisi with a vision to change the narrative of inequality for people in vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in South Africa – a mission not unlike ours here at Sexy Socks. We are beyond grateful to have partnered with such an incredible team and can’t wait to work together again in an effort to continue to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those less fortunate.

Head this way to find out how you can get involved in helping the Kolisi Foundation or help us make a difference by nominating a school in need for one of our sock drops.
