We have officially donated 500,000 pairs of school socks to children in need! HALF A MILLION… it feels surreal saying that out loud.

To each and every person who has bought a pair of our socks over the years and supported our mission (warm toes = easier to concentrate at school = more learning = better education), THANK YOU. You are our lifeblood and the children we help are our driving force.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER

Ten years ago, we started Sexy Socks with a simple vision: ensure that no child in South Africa goes to school without socks. And this month, I’m beyond proud to share that we’ve donated our 500,000th pair of school socks.

Upon reflection, I’m overwhelmed by the kindness and support of those who’ve stood by us to achieve this surreal milestone. Each one of you has played a part in this mission – turning compassion into action with every purchase you make.

Not only does every sale make a tangible difference in quite literally warming feet (and hearts), but it also affords us the chance to meet incredible teachers and children who we hope to inspire through our work, showing that business can be used as a force for good and for change in our immediate communities.

This is our why. They are our why.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN FRANSCHHOEK

“On a cold, rainy day, we were able to immediately put a pair of socks on the feet of a child in need who was wearing shoes without socks.”

As part of our ongoing efforts to support local communities, we recently completed a sock drop of over 4,500 pairs of socks, visiting 8 schools in Franschhoek – a village known for its beautiful wine farms, but also a place where many in the local community face seasonal employment challenges. Many of the students at these schools are in dire need of the very basic necessities in life.

Des, our incredible store manager in Franschhoek, shared a heartwarming moment from the sock drop: “On a cold, rainy day, we were able to immediately put a pair of socks on the feet of a child in need who was wearing shoes without socks.”

Her poignant words sum up our reason for being: to provide warmth and comfort to those who need it most.

Des is not just our store manager; she’s a passionate advocate for her community. Born and raised in Franschhoek, Des attended Wes Eind Primary and Groendal Primary, eventually moving to Groendal Secondary, while her daughter attended Franschhoek High, so her connection to local schools is strong.
